Seiko King Samurai SRPF79K

The party trick is the silhouettes of Manta Ray just underneath the surface of the dark blue ocean. It’s incredibly subtle, don’t expect anybody to see these without having them pointed out. Much like manta ray, or even small sting rays in real life, they don’t exactly advertise their presence, but rather gently glides near the bottom of the ocean and a silhouette may be all you ever see. It’s a beautiful touch and it’s the reason I bought the watch.

So does everything line up properly? Don't be silly... Read full review here

Melbourne Watch Company - Collins Auto Classic Review

30/1/2021

Picture
I'm finally back with a new watch for 2021!

Today I have a new watch from MWC, the Collins Auto Classic. Once again I may be in the unique position of being the only Melburnian to review the watch, which means I’m well aware of Collins Street in Melbourne. That said, the surname Collins is one of those historical names that seems to show up absolutely everywhere in Australia, much like Bourke. I won’t go into the history of the name and how it relates to English explorers, let’s just concentrate on the Melbourne financial district which is a rather pleasant area of Melbourne.

Sinn EZM 12

10/12/2020

The Sinn EZM 12 is made for medical professionals, in fact it was designed in direct collaboration with doctors and emergency personnel, in particular air rescue services.

When was the last time you read a description specifying features like an easily removable bezel and strap, to wash out bacteria or even blood?
This is a tool watch like no other. Meet the Sinn EZM 12

Gerald Genta's Royal Oak

9/11/2020

The absolute classic that is the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak was launched around the time of the quartz crisis and here was a steel watch at the same price as a gold watch with a rather controversial design. It was simply bad timing and it was in fact a failure upon launch, even to the point where some employees were rumoured to have been given one to boost numbers. But, Audemar Piguet kept investing and marketing the watch and of course it is now a modern day classic!

Sinn U2 in its element

31/10/2020

Living in Australia, snorkelling and diving is in our blood. Taking a deep breath and dive down to see what’s hiding under the coral is a fun thing to do. If you’ve done this yourself, you know what it does to your ears. One of the first things you have to master when learning to dive even a couple of metres down is the skill of equalising the pressure in your ears. Imagine then what kind of engineering has to go into a device that can withstand such pressure!

Hanhart Monoscope

16/10/2020

There is a classic Top Gear episode where James May reviews a Honda Civic. Paraphrasing, he says something along the lines of, “if you come out of a grey office and have to go to a marketing conference on the latest tissue paper, that little red starter button might be THE thing that makes not want to drive into a wall.”

The Hanhart Pioneer Monoscope is no ordinary watch. This is a watch with heritage. And, it has a red button.

Moving images. It's a thing.

Diving at 2 kilometres...Sinn U2

6/9/2020

Picture
Are you like me and merely diving to 1500 metres is a bit pedestrian? Well, I have some news for you. Say hello to Sinn's U2 EZM5. The ultimate badass watch that will gladly beat up all your other watches.

What is it like to wear, own and use this watch in a normal every day life? Is it worth owning even if the extent of your water activities is snorkeling at  50cm?

Casio AE1200 Royale

16/8/2020

Casio AE1200 royal review
The 80s version of a smartwatch, were they simply better? I know I don't miss the buzzing, blinking and flashing of endless notifications that I don't care about. The fact that these are still made today, at an extremely reasonable cost, and the pure functionality of these watches, says it all really.

Is this $45 well spent? Read all about it.

Tudor Black Bay 41

Tudor Black Bay 41 review on esbjorn.com.au
Tudor is an interesting brand. It was often in the shadow of its big sister. This changed with the launch of the Black Bay line in 2012. All of a sudden, the little sister stepped out from the shadows and took the limelight.

The Black Bay 41 flies under the radar. It's sporty and elegant, intricate and plain. Should you consider it over a Rolex Explorer or even the standard Black Bay line?

Helson Sharkmaster 300

I researched this for a long time before I bought it...or at least I tried to! There's not a lot out there in terms of in depth reviews. So, time to change that!

If you're looking at buying this good homage to the Omega Seamaster 300, then hopefully this will help you.

The beautiful Sinn 104. Is it the one watch collection? This is a watch that works everywhere, from the beach to the office. It probably only has one or two weaknesses...what are they?

Casio G-Shock GW-M5610BC-1JF

There are approximately 1 billion varieties of Gshocks so which one to get? If you're partial to the square one (like me) and also like something unique, like in this case the composite bracelet that is only available in Japan, then this is the article for you.

A Swiss brand with roots back to the 1950s and the Vietnam war tickle your fancy? It may be named after an aircraft with a dubious safety record but this here is a safe buy for anyone with good taste.
