Watch rolls, can they not be evil?31/12/2021 Admittedly, watch rolls is not something I really use nor is a big fan of, but I really enjoyed this version with its sliding out cushions and excellent value for money. Hope you do too, links to the watch roll is in the description of the video.
Watch it right here. The Mido Decompression timer 196111/12/2021 The Mido Decompression timer 1962 ltd edition is a watch that simply exists to make us happy. It has many great functions, such as the famous decompression timer dial, a rotating bezel and even time keeping functionality… of sorts.
Check out my full video review here Maen 38 GMT Automatic27/11/2021 A beautiful watch, sized at a fashionable 38mm (my first). It's Swedish but run by two Dutch guys, inspired by New York....confused? Don't be. It all works!
Watch full review here Withings Horizon Scanwatch review21/11/2021 What's this, smartwatches all of a sudden being reviewed here? Don't worry, normal services will resume momentarily. My thinking here is that this is the most watchy, smart watch that an automatic watch fan can get at the moment. The hybrid format and excellent functionality could work for us. What do you think? Seiko SRPD79K1 and Erika MN strap9/11/2021 Unsurprisingly perhaps, in my opinion, there are few better presents for big milestones than your first proper automatic watch. That said, how much should you actually spend? After all, there’s a fair chance that said time piece may not get much usage initially, or even ever?
The Seiko 5, the so called 5kx is a perfect gateway drug to this hobby. It’s also very well made, should last for a long time and cheap to service. Watch the full review here. Nomos Autobahn: Pole position27/10/2021 The Autobahn was the first watch I saw from the brand, funnily enough in an Australian car magazine ad, and I just couldn't stop thinking about it. To release something with such a controversial design really was a brave move. A recent release of several limited editions, so called directors cut, with unique bracelets and colour schemes, once again had me pining for the Autobahn and I reached out to ask for a loan of a model. Watch video here.
Damasko DC80 LHV, beauty and beast13/10/2021 Much like many German car makers, there is a quiet sense of confidence, more we make products that will survive Armageddon, than any sort of touchy feely warm messaging. These watches are not here to make you laugh, they have a job to do and don’t have time for your puny soft human flesh. You’re welcome to love them but don’t expect a cuddle back. Battle of the suede straps3/10/2021 Can you really compare a suede strap for $12 to one for $180? You can and you should. It's easy to dismiss one, or the other for being either two cheap or two expensive. There is a difference and both have their place. If you are researching the perfect suede watch strap for your watch, then do yourself a favour and read this review on a Bas & Lokes strap versus a AliExpress strap.
Halios Seaforth blue, can you get one?25/9/2021 The stunning Halios Seaforth pastel blue. It sold out over and over until three editions were all gone. Still sought after today, it's still possible to get one. The question is, should you? I cover this in my video here.
1963 Seagull (not an old bird)22/8/2021 Let’s chat about a watch that is as home on a hike as it is in an office, and it’ll cost you less than a pair of shoes for your newly fashion conscious teenage offspring, it’s The Seagull 1963.
Watch the video review here Just another 62MAS homage?24/7/2021 I don’t love homages usually but I decided to hand over some of my hard earned money at a recent AliExpress sale for the version 4 of this watch. This one has a slightly different crystal and a new logo. So is it any good? Let’s have a look.
Grand Seiko Snowflake SBGA21122/7/2021 The Spring Drive is a unique movement that combines the high torque of a mechanical watch with the high precision integrated circuit control system of an electronic watch. It intermittently applies a magnetic brake which gives you that absolutely perfect sweep of the seconds hand which is so incredibly calming to watch. The Snowlake is one of the most beautiful watches in the world and I hope you enjoy the video.
Tudor Pelagos LHD - Long term review22/6/2021 The Tudor Pelagos is the most comfortable watch that I own and it gets more wrist time than any other piece. I love it. I took my time reviewing the watch since I really wanted to give a long term perspective on the watch. Spoiler alert, it's great.
As you see in the video, this is well worn and loved. A few small scratches does not bother me. Check out the full review here. Melbourne Watch Company Chelsea26/5/2021 Interestingly and unlike what feels like every other watch company in the world, there’s not been a proper dive watch as such in their arsenal but that’s about to change. And with some of the best diving in the world in Australian waters, it’s very fitting. Even if all you do is play in the rockpools or the many awesome beaches of this country, this one is for you. Time for new shoes?20/5/2021 Sailcloth straps. It's a tricky material that takes time to soften up and due to its rigid nature, can be a little uncomfortable initially.
